Trip Report: Coolest Wine Tasting...

Bonjour les amis!!

Just a quick post to tel you about my recent Paris trip. First, I got lucky: wonderful weather, great hotel (Le General)...

Anyway... just wanted to let you know about one of the highlights of my Parisian experience: me and my friends went to a wine tasting with O Chateau.

First, a word about our host, Olivier: he's wonderful! You know how someliers can be pretentious (and boring!!) sometimes... well Olivier is just the opposite: very fun, laid back, entertaining, lots of humor... The guy is 24yo, French and he speaks almost unaccented English, which really is helpful for someone like me who knows maybe 12 words of French!
Anyway, Olivier's tastings took place in a cute little place on the bank of the Seine River. We tasted 7 superb wines (in 2 hours... oh la la!!) in a cosy and very convivial atmosphere.

It was by far the most educational tasting I ever attended... and also the most fun, the most informal.
We got a chance to buy some wine at the end of the tasting.

Anyway... meeting Olivier and joining his wine tasting class were really great. An English friend of mine who lives in Paris told me about this. So I figured I should spread the word about this!!

I wish you all the best in your endeavours.
Enjoy Paris and France. This country ad its people are marvellous!!

All the best,

Stephanie

Hmmmm... funny, you didn't post here while you were planning your trip...
But I have heard about this program. Which 'package' was the one you took for the 7 tastings? Where was it held..?
Thanks.

Stepanie,
Where did you stay in Paris?
What did you see?

Without a trip report, your post does indeed look like advertising.

If you search this site for "wine bars" you'll find a useful thread., currently No. 4 You can do your tasting unassisted, if you like, and devote the savings to better wines.

I have no idea what Dave means by this - - ?? currently No. 4 ?? - - but perhaps it is a reference to this thread from not too long ago...

But then, why are we "topping" this apparent "advertisement" posted here by a "plant" from the obviously unethical O Chateau?

Best wishes,

Rex
