Trip report: 5 days in Iceland
#63
Nice report. We were in Iceland for 5 days this past December. Couldn't agree more, the prices were astounding even knowing that Iceland was expensive. We also didn't have luck with the northern lights tours. We were cancelled all 3 nights. We were notified late afternoon of the cancellation. BTW the tour you took sounded great. Wish I had found that one.
We did have some good meals, not fabulous, but quite good. It's too bad you had so much trouble with Flybe. That's a bad way to start off and end a trip. They worked ok for us. We were also in an air BnB and we were let off close to the apt fortunately.
I think Iceland is popular because it's unusual with beautiful landscapes. We'd like to go back during the summer to see more of the country and for some hiking.
Thanks for your detailed report.

Thanks yestravel. Seems lots of people experience some sticker shock there. Sorry to hear your northern lights tour was also cancelled. I really wish we had a backup for our cancelled ice cave tour. Life and learn.
Yeah, I didn't enjoy the Flybus experience but there weren't many options. I'm sure it'll get better over time. They're moving a lot of people back and forth and I don't think stellar customer service is at the top of their list at the moment.
Iceland is gorgeous and pristine. I told my husband that aside from the cold and insane prices, it actually sounds like paradise.
