uhoh_busted--sounds like we were in Uzes at just about the same time last year, although by the time of the strike we had moved on to Montpellier.
I think Gordes is pretty to look at from afar, but it didn't do a whole lot for me up close.

Gordes is magnificent when seen from across the way but less so when you're there. But I will always remember it as the first place I had a Provençal pain bagna, a tuna sandwich wonderful beyond descrption. It came from a tiny little stand on the main square that also dispensed great frites.

Hi SalB,
They do have a website: www.ecuries-des-chartreux.com. We stayed in the Pagnol room, which was pretty roomy by european hotel standards, and had a kitchenette. They also have two additional rooms, one smaller and one larger. We peeked into the larger one, and it looked quite nice. They do provide breakfast for E7 per person, which we thought was high but for convenience we ordered one morning. It was great! A big basket of bread and croisants, a carafe of coffee, yogurt, cheese, fruit, butter, marmalade, creme fraiche. They'll also do your laundry for you--I think my travelling companion paid E8 for a load. Expensive, yes, but when we came home there it was all clean and folded.
