We arrived May 17, and toured around with a rented car for 14 days - most of it on the Ionian Island of Kefalonia. On the island we stayed in Lixouri (Terra Mare Resort), Sami (Pericles Hotel) and finally Poros (Riviera Hotel), before catching the ferry and driving back to Athens. We stayed at the Niforeika Beach Hotel enroute to the ferry to Kefalonia (at Kylinni) and were delighted with our time spent there. It was 37 degrees Celsius when we left on June 2. May is a good month, except for May 1 - when everyone is on strike annually, and the transportation shuts down. Good luck!
