Trentalia booking - how long before confirmation email comes thru
I tried to book a train journey from Naples to Rome on the new extra fast train via Trentalia website. Had already got my user id and password, and went through the complete process even completing credit card details. I am in Australia and after completing credit card details on the Italian bank site, up came a screen to verify the info, between my Aust bank and the Italian. Was not expecting this and had to get some more info to type from the filing cabinet - all the while I am conscious of the 15 minute time limit to get a ticket. This is my first time at using Trentalia to book a ticket, so yes, I am a little slow. I was expecting to receive a confirmation email from Trentalia with the details of my train journey (ticked the "ticketless box"
, but have not had anything yet. QUESTION - How long should I wait to received their email, or if it does not show quickly can I assume the booking was not made properly and I should try again.?? On one screen I did see all the details of my booking with a confirmation number and was thinking that I would get a prompt to print something at a later screen, but this did not occur. Of course, do not want to be double booking and be paying double, but would still like to take advantage of a special "Two for one" offer on the price of the ticket.
Advice appreciated. Thanks

I've ordered a couple of sets of tickets recently and received an e-mail confirmation shortly after the completion of the purchase.
Just because you see a reservation number doesn't mean it's confirmed as a PNR record locater number is assigned during the shopping process when you get to a certain point.
Why don't you try this. Go to trenitalia site and click on customers area. In the restricted access area click on "verify the state of your orders". Sign in with you name and password. If your order is complete I think it would show here. Mine do.
You might also check with your credit card company to see if the charge went through on your card.
Hope this helps and good luck.

people seem to have quite a bit of trouble with internet train bookings. I get to Rome on a sunday, and want to go to florence on wednesday. (1st week october) Can't I just get tickets from an AmEx office on Monday in Rome? I want the EuroStar about 830am on Wed. Also, what is the difference between 1st and 2nd class?

Hi 2t,
Good advice from GB.
Hi kh
Of course, you can get tickets from AMEX in Rome. Buying online can save you the trouble of having to go to their office.
Also, you can get the 29E 1cl fare online.
>what is the difference between 1st and 2nd class?<
For Rome to Florence, about 13E.
Seats are wider in 1cl.

I recently booked two different trains w/ Trenitalia and never received an e-mail either from trenitalia. The tickets were charged to my credit card though. I checked the customer area and my reservations were there. I printed out my reservations from the customer area page. It has the # on it that you need to show on the train if using the ticketless option.

I have checked the customer area and there is no record of any tickets ordered on my behalf. I intend to ring my Aussie bank this morning and see if anything has gone through on the credit card, and if not, will assume that my tickete request of 2 days ago was not successful and I will try again. At least on this 2nd go I will be more familiar with the site and the questions they ask and will not have to go look for the extra information they required. Boy, this is stressful and a huge learning curve!!!
