I am trying to book an IC tain from Rome Termini to Chiusi. I noticed special fares called Sconto Smart, Sconto Exec, Sconto Realx that are all discounted from the "standard" fare. These fares are all about 8% less than the standard fare.
1) Does anyone know if I can book these? Are there any retrictions I am not understanding?

2) It also seems I can only book one ticket at a time. Does this mean I will not be able to book seats together?

3) Any other discount fares I should know about?

Hi P,

You can book up to 5 tickets at a time online.

When you click on the Sconto fares, you will see an icon and info re the fare.

It would help to read the info.

Thanks. I read the info but found it confusing. Looked like I could book these fares. Also when choosing these fares it then changed the # of passngers to "1".

Anyone else know how this works?

If all else fails go to www.slowtravel.com and ask GAC, who was the resident trenitalia online guru at Fodors but now mainly posts there.
But hopefully other Fodorites who know something about Trenitalia like Ira and others will respond first.

Paulo - Sconto Smart and Relax are only available to residents in Italy, not to overseas visitors.
