Travelling Turkey, the best things to see in Turkey.
Hey Guys, Im hoping you can help.....
My partner and I are hoping to visit Turkey around June/July time next year for approx 2 weeks. We have been a good few times before and to a few different locations but mostly stayed within the region we travelled to. We are fortunate enough that my partners mother owns an apartment in Turunc which ideally we would like to spend the last week or at least last weekend in . Key things for me are to be able to see some of Istanbul, Pummakale, Ephesus and maybe some other ruins. We will most likely haver to fly into Istanbul and possibly out of Dalyan. It will be mostly travelling as thats what we like to do but we will need some time to enjoy it as a holiday at the end,
Hope you can give me some advice on realistic time-scales, the best places to see and whether were missing anything out!
Thanks so much

I would recommend the website:
http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/
This has a wealth of information on it.
Good luck! Istbanul is one of my very favorite cities in the world.

In Istanbul, be sure to take a cruise up the Bosphorus Strait. My friends and I took one that made several stops for people to get on and off; we stayed on to the end (near the Black Sea), had lunch, then took it back to Istanbul. You'll see several palaces/fortresses from the water -- a very relaxing trip!

You might want to take a look at my trip report; click on my name to find it. We were there a little longer, and spent 9 days traveling between Izmir and Cappadocia to visit Ephesus, Pammukkale, Aphrodisias and the sights in Cappadocia.

I just completed our trip report, for a trip of about the same length. We visited Istanbul, Cappdocia, Ephesus (Sirince), Fethiye/Kayakoy, with a couple of days in Rhodes. It may help give some ideas of a timeline - and I second the Turkey travel planner site, very useful!

Third vote for Turkey travel planner -- we adored Cappadocia, also very much enjoyed the Bosphorus trip -- stopped at Sabanci Muzee and had lunch there (which is exquisite) and don't miss a night out at one of the crazy disco clubs. What a hoot!
