Since 1999, I have traveled three times to Paris and three times to Italy. I have never considered TC's and never needed them. I bring E300 with me (which I purchase at AMEX Travel Service Office), my Bank of New York debit card (for cash) and several AMEX's and VISA/MC. I've never had a problem. Also, most ATM machines are in several languages and always have English so your mom doesn't have to know the language to easily use her card.

Budman, the al Poggiolo apartments (four of them) are within a large villa sort of building which is on the west side of the upper village -- about two-thirds of the way up to the main square. It is just below the walls of San Francisco (is that right?), the large monastery that is up on west side of the town.
