The 3rd prong actually "clears" the area around the plug so I could use it.....is there such thing as a 3 prong adapator?

Sorry if this is repeated - posted earlier but it has vanished...

I haven't seen one. What we did was buy the adaptor that turns the three prong into two prong, then plug the two prong into the adaptor for use in Italy.

If it clears, you can use as is - - or do as Surfergirl suggested.

Either way, you face a risk (which don't know how to quantitate) of an "ungrounded discharge" - - in, for example, a direct lightning strike to the building (I hope I am not stating this totally wrong, but I think it is something like that - - I have never been worried about ignoring this risk).

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi ES,

The easiest thing is to follow surfergirl's suggestion.

If the wall outlet isn't grounded your 3rd prong won't work anyway.

Elizabeth,
I ran into your problem in 2003. I decided to play it safe and not run the risk of ruining my laptop and bought a 3 prong adaptor first in London and then in Munich. My hotel recommended stores where I could find them. In the U.S. Magellans has some options which you can order online.
