Traveling in france with child

In paris for one week in july w family. Then it will be just me and my 9yo dauggter for an additional 4-7days or so. Want to do some "easy" travelling and see some child friendly places. Thinking about flying to nice and seeing the south of france for a couple of days. Maybe stay somewhere betw nice and menton. Should i rent a car and drive to provence? Typical historical sites would not be interesting for her and i want low stress. Im thinking more like see a castle, horseback riding maybe waterpark or some kind of swimming, maybe a boat ride.

Why go south where it will be hot and overcrowded? To join the European lemmings? Places like Lille or Le Touquet are delightful.

Boulogne-sur-Mer has the fantastic Nausicaa oceanographic attraction.
