Traveling from Zurich to St Anton, Austria

Hi,
My wife and I plan to ski in St Anton this winter. We will be flying into Zurich. What is the best way to get to St Anton?

Thanks.

I would say a train is the best way to get ther. If I read the Swiss Rail site correctly, there are several trains a day, including two direct trains, i.e., don't require you to change. The fastest train will get you there in 2.5 hours.

Take a look at the website for Swiss Rail at rail.ch for schedules. Go to travel/timetable, enter Zurich HB as your start point, and St Anton am Alberg as your destination. (You can get to Zurich HB, the main train station, from the airport in about 10 minutes, trains run about 10 times an hour.)

You could rent a car and drive, but that would be expensive and would take longer, and I am not too sure about parking in St Anton.

try arlbergexpress.com. They run an express bus service from the airport to Zurs and lech and probably run a route to St. Anton as well. If they don't go to St. Anton the helpful folks in the office will probably direct you to the right place. Good luck.

Jeffjoyce,

Depending on your flight arrival time, the train or shuttle bus mentioned above are your best options.

Train schedules:
www.rail.ch

Shuttle bus schedule:

Hope this helps,
Andre

I'm going to Lech in March and I'm taking the Arlberg Express from Zurich. I think the ride will be 1.5 to 2 hours. Please write a trip report when you return I'm curious about the Arlberg region.
