Travel Times To Gatwick From Central London
I have a 12:00pm flight out of Gatwick and wanted to know when I should head for the airport if I am staying in Central London - I don't exactly know where in Central London at this time.

Thanks for your help.

hi racer/chris,

I can only tell you if you are taking a hotel transfer you need to leave about 8.30-9am. it took us about 1 1/2 to get from paddington/bayswater area to gatwick. morning is a rush in london. there is always a traffic jam here and there. we had smooth sailing so to speak with no major holdups and arrived around 10.30.

hope this helps

sandy

You may be able to check your bags at Victoria and pick up your boarding pass there. As of November of last year British Air had a check-in terminal upstars at Victoria. Check with your airline to see if they have a check-in there. You will probably need to check you baggage at least 2 hours before your departure.

I normally check my bags in early in the morning and spend the time before my flight in central London not in a line at Gatwick.

I would give yourself an hour from Victoria station to Gatwick. Keep in mind that once you are at Gatwick, depending on what airlines you are flying, you will have to take another small train from the South terminal to the North Terminal.

British Airways has done away with the luggage check in at Victoria station as of two weeks ago.
