where are you going in Europe? If you rent a car get ready to pay for gas. It's about $3.00 gal over here. If you really want to save money don't stay in big cities... ex. going to Venice stay in Padua or Vicenza... there are a lot fo bargain hotels. If you're former military you can use the USO they can book inexpensive places for you....

For cheap accomodations, try the youth hostel in Reyðarfjörður fjord, which is the largest of the East Fjords in Iceland. The rooms are clean and big, and the rate is only US $15 per night, including free use of their fishing poles.

One of the cheapest places to rent a car is at the Budget Rent-a-car office in Sarajevo. The address is:

KRANJCEVICEVA ST. 33
SARAJEVO 71000

Also, don't miss the Open Air Museum of the Center of Europe in Lithuania. Their contact information is:

Europos parkas, Joneikiskiu village, LT-4013 Vilnius region.
Tel.: +370-2-652368, +370-2-502242.

Not sure what your interests are or where you're going in Europe, but hopefully this will be a good start!

Nancy: if someone told you that they were coming to the United States and wanted to know where to go and where to stay, what would you tell them?

Your question has no answer until the contributors to this forum have some idea of where you are landing and where you intend to go after you arrive.
