My husband is Canadian and does not speak with any of the supposed telltale signs of his nationality.
Although we live in the UK and hear quite a bit of ill-informed anti-American nonsense, I refuse to pretend I'm not American. Unless it's a life or death situation and someone is going to shoot you if you say you're American (as happend to relatives during the first Gulf War and in fact they were dual citizens of the U.S. and another country), there's no excuse for this.
Tucker Carlson is an overpaid jerk who panders to a niche audience.

Tucker Carlson is pathetic. He’s been bounced around the cable networks because of low ratings, he’s written conservative rants that fail to make the best-seller lists (in an era when these so-called books by right-wing meatheads like O’Reilly and Hannity sell like crazy), and, in a gesture of absolute desperation, he’s now abandoned his signature bow tie, I imagine in a desperate attempt to certify his manliness. (I learned this major event when watching “Hardball” the other night.) In his defense, if you could call it that, Carlson did oppose the insane war in Iraq, is against the even crazier suggestion that we attack Iran, and has looked increasingly uncomfortable attempting to defend the bunglers in the White House and Pentagon.

About 10 years ago, we stayed at a German owned resort in Mexico...the guests were mostly German. At night, the resort had a "variety show"...it was so terrible that we left about 15 minutes into it, but what I did see were Canadian characters crudely sterotyped as nose-picking hicks. Was that a German sterotype of Canadians, or a Mexican stereotype of Canadians? I had certainly never seen Canadians negatively stereotyped anywhere before.

Unless you can count the old SCTV skits where the Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas called each other 'Hoser' and drank a lot of beer. (and ended each sentence with 'eh.') Who wants to be so perfect as to be above stereotyping? I'm sure Canada can handle this Carlson guy.

MissPrism, LOL
When I arrived in San Francisco after spending 13 years in North Carolina, a couple of people asked me if I were British.
Because I pronounced dog as Dawg?
So I imagine if people are that unable to pinpoint a persons origins by accent, you can pretty much make up anything you wish.
Say you are from Tahiti..anyone know what that accent sounds like? LOL

Tucker Carlson is both quite amusing and rather clever.
The excerpts cited of his rants on Canada are are not meant as heavy political commentary but are more akin to Dennis Miller routines although both have more than a grain of truth in them.

MSNBC must be desperate to put an egomanic like Keith Olbermann on the air. Some people rap Foxx for being too consevative, but little Keith is so over the top with his anti-bush bashing you would think the DNC produced the show.

Personally, I think the remark comparing Canada to a sweet little retarded cousin is offensive and not the least bit funny - and I'm not Canadian.
I'm one of the people who enjoy Keith Olbermann. If Fox can put forth the right wing people they do, then there is nothing wrong with the other side putting forward a Keith O-type of newscaster, either, IMO.

"...Keith is so over the top with his anti-bush bashing you would think the DNC produced the show."
And who would you think produced the show when he goes after Hillary or Kerry or the moribund House Democrats?
Olbermann will attack any stuffed-shirt sock-puppet, without regard to political stripe. If Bush gets the most of Keith's air, it's because he's the most deserving.

Robes, really? Every time I've paused to sneak a peek, Old Keith is slashing away at only republicans. Bad timing I suppose. His intense hatred of Bill O'Reilly is scary. Ayway, he is more "for show" acting than balanced news.

You are correct. The probabability that he will be dressing down the right is heavily influenced by the proportion of their transgression to the total. But Olbermann is an equal-opportunity jester. He doesn't take pols in general any more seriously than they deserve.
Keith doesn't hate O'Reilly. He finds his ridiculous posturing a perennial source of amusement. Did you see the Fox Security Force episode? It's worth "sneaking a peek" (do you actually talk like that?)
