Travel Destination Ideas for November?

We are an American family living in Sweden and have been trying to see some of Europe while here. We have a 20-month old and a 3-year old. (Just did 3 days in Venice with the kids, so we're not easily intimidated!) Looking for a destination for 5-8 days over Thanksgiving week. Have done lots of traveling already, but would still like to get to Greece, Ireland, Scotland, Prague, and anywhere in French wine country. Any suggestions given the late November timeframe?

Kerra: Fodor's had a hosted forum on the Greek islands a couple of weeks ago which you can easily look up (just click on "Past Hosted Forums" on the Forums homepage). The host, Lea Lane, answered a lot of questions about Greece very well, and it seems to me that several of them were about where to go at that time of year. I seem to recall her highly recommending the island of Crete -- lots to see and do, historic ruins, etc., and decently warm weather in the late fall (in the 60s F if I recall). Some of the questions also had to do with travelling in Greece with children as well and she had good advice about that as well.

Kerra -

Wow - wish I had your "troubles" and issues to sort out...I envy your position !
If you are really flexible, have you considered expanding your destination search beyond Europe ? My husband and I had a wonderful trip to Egypt last year in November - beautiful weather and a great learning opportunity for our children (ages 4 and 6)

Good luck !

Lisa-Thanks so much for your input! Had just about written off Greece when I got your posting, found the hosted forum, and am excited about Crete! Still researching, but definitely a strong possibility. Thanks again.

Kerra: Great -- let us know where you end up going and how it is. Crete and Ireland are at the top of my list for places to go in the next couple of years too...
Oh, I thought of another thing. I just finished a really interesting book called "One Year Off," by David Elliot Cohen, one of the editors of the "Day in the Life of ___" series. The book is about his travels around the world with his wife and three children over the course of a year. I definitely recommend the book anyway, but you might be particularly interested in it as it details their experiences in France (Burgundy if I recall?), Italy, etc. with their kids. There is a website at www.oneyearoff.com
