Yes, Skype is one of the main things I use on my netbook (currenty a Lenovo S10). Most netbooks have a built in webcam which makes Skype easier. I still prefer to use a headset with microphone rather than the built in mic/speakers of the netbook, but even they are perfectly adequate.

This will take your 3 prongs to 2 prongs to fit an adapter in the event you don't find an adapter that will accommodate the third prong.

I notice a couple of people have mentioned external DVD/CD drives. I have both one of the original netbooks, an Asus EEE 701 and an older 12 inch Dell with an external drive.
I find that for movies and or music on the go you're better off storing them on USB sticks or SD cards. Mobile memory of either kind is incredibly cheap and you save the weight and space of an external drive. Watching a movie on computer via a USB stick will allow much longer battery life as well. The key is to have your movies in DivX format... any teenager can tell you how to do it!

Not exactly. The British plug differs from the "European" plug, which differs from the Swiss Plug. You will need a separate adaptor for the UK and Europe. Depending upon the diameter of the prongs on your European adaptor, you may also need a separate adaptor for Switzerland. You can ignore the differing styles of grounded plugs...
