Travel between Paris/Florence
My daughter and I have finally narrowed down our trip to Europe dates (either last week in March/first week in April OR last week in May/first week in June). I'm trying to find the most reasonable way to travel from Paris to Florence one-way. Airfare seems almost as expensive as flying transatlantic, which absolutely amazes me. Train seems to be a lot more reasonable but I'm wondering if all the connections may not make it worthwhile in spite of the better price. Suggestions?

Thanks.

Check europebyair.com They have $99 flights Paris>Naples; you'd have to take a train from there to Florence.

The overnight train that RJD referenced is actually a cheaper alternative (you save the cost of a hotel room) and you save time (sleeping while traveling 12 hours)

Or take day trains and break up the trip: Paris to Switzerland, then spend a day in Switzerland, take a day train from there to Florence

http://www.meridiana.it/

Have you tried this airline Kim? Meridiana is based in Florence and they usually have very good prices.

The train seems excellent too - I met some people off it last week and it was exactly on time.
You can also buy travel Europe coupons from Air France for instance for aprox 99 dollars you can fly from Paris to Florence. But the catch is you have to buy a minimum of three coupons,.....but may be you can use two more? ask inf. at Air France, also note return policies etc since they differ from regular tickets.
