I am arriving at the Florence airport at 9:00PM on a Friday. We are going to stay at the Hotel Casci near all the tourist stuff. I was wondering if anyone knows roughly how much a cab would cost from the airport to the hotel, or if anyone has any other suggestions on how to get to the hotel. We are picking up our car when we leave Florence.

We did the same thing in '98. The airport is very close to the center of Florence. I don't remember exactly how much it was, but it didn't break the bank. I think that it was 50,000 lire or less, but don't remember for sure.

Cheri, Florence is very small. I can't remember exactly what we paid to get to the airport from the center, but it was less than a 20-minute ride--don't hesitate to take a taxi.
Be sure your hotel is aware of your late arrival, by the way, so they don't give your room away.

Be careful, last year at least, there were 2 airports that were considered to service Florence though one was about 45 miles from Florence and cost about $100 in a cab. You're probably at the closer-in one, but you'll want to be sure.

Firenze's airport it A VESPUCCI (FLR)
it is located 5 km from Florence.
There is a Sita Bus goes to and from
the airport tothe SMN RR station.
another bus # 62 ATAF goes to and from Florence every 20 mins (0600-2245).
Finally taxi which is the quickest to
your hotel, cost would be approx 20,000
ITL with possible surcharges.

The airport mentioned by Brian may have
been Pisa (PSA) G. Galilei which would
be about the right distance from Florence. Would strongly not picking
up your car in Firenze until the day
you depart as driving within can be

Just got back from Florence: the cab from the airport to our hotel downtown (Lungarno) was 33,000 lira. From downtown to the airport it was 40,000 lira. Not sure why there was a price difference, possibly because the second cab was reserved for 6 in the morning.
