transport from heathrow to St. Pancras

My daughter and I will need transportation from Heathrow airport to St.Pancras (our hotel is there). We were looking at a few car services online for about 46 (GBP) for a saloon car? We will each have 1 luggage & 1 carry on. Can a saloon car accomodate 2- 28" luggage bags? After a 10 hr flight, we didn't want to deal with a crowded subway ride and the heathrow express plus a cab fare from Paddington seems more expensive then a car service. I emailed a couple of services but received no answer.
We are looking for a safe and reliable company. We would appreciate any advice.

TWO 28 inch bags PLUS carry-on's? That is an enormous amount of luggage!

A car service is your only hope - A saloon (sedan) might hold four suitcases that size (two 28"and two 19"-22"). But no guarantees so book an estate (station wagon).

justairports.com

(By any chance, are you staying at St Pancras because you are taking a train somewhere?. If so, how are you managing the luggage on the train?)

Yes, we are staying at the Renaissance St.Pancras hotel.
When we catch the Eurostar to Paris later in our stay, we plan to leave our large bags with the hotel storage- I called Marriott & they said no problem.
Do you recommend any other companies in addition to just airports? Just looking for a few options...

Please come back and tell us how you liked the Renaissance St Pancras Hotel as our apartment is part of the hotel and we are going in early May. Though I'm not sure when you will be there.
We plan to do the Paddington Express with 1 checked; and 2 carry ons with the 2 of us.

Sorry, but the HEX for St Pancras makes no sense at all. And luggage makes it even worse. The HEX is VERY expensive, and only gets you to Paddington.

You will have a hike at the LHR end, a bit of a walk at the Paddington end, have to queue (possibly for a long time) for a taxi at Paddington and all in all it will cost nearly twice as much as a pre-booked car service which is door-to-door w/ no luggage schlepping at all.

gailscout; Sorry but we are not going until July- looking forward to staying at the St.Pancras- let me know how you like it. It has good reviews on trip advisor and Marriott standards are usually very good. Another great Marriott is the Park Lane- great location, we're staying there after we return from Paris. Let me know if you use a car service from the airport, I am still looking- there are alot online.

Did you try justairports???

Or http://www.london-transfers.com/

Or for a little more ££ http://www.addisonlee.com/

I personally wouldn't just search on line - the three above are long established and legit. justairports will be the cheapest, and Ray Skinner (London-Transfers) likely in the same ballpark.

janisj; yes I did look at justairports, the fare quoted for a saloon car £ 34 and 38 for an estate car.
Is this a per person rate or just a flat rate for both of us?

OMG - no wonder you are still 'looking'. The rate they charge is for the journey. Not per person . . .

I haVE USED JUSTAIRPORTS SEVERAL TIME AND THEY ARE MOSTT RELIABLE. In the long run they will be about the same price a HEX and a taxi. A ssloon car should handle you luggage well They will tell you if it won't Last week I had 2 22" checked bags and two carry onn and we had room in the trunk for both You could put your catty on in the passenger section if It doesn.t fot !!

janisj; I agree a long established company is best, regarding justairports,I am hestitant because the reviews online have not been great. Has your experience with them been without any problems?

I also found hummingbird cars which had great reviews, has anyone used this company?

We always use just airports and have never had a problem. Just used them on Friday to get to the airport and they picked us up at 4:30am with no problems.

Actually justairports (or Ray Skinner) costs less than just the HEX alone. Adding the taxi journey makes the HEX+taxi MUCH more expensive.

The HEX currently runs £20 or £25 per person depending on how you buy the ticket. Justairports (and others) is less than that even for an estate.

We took the HEX to Paddington which was costly and quick. Tube to Kings Cross which was crowded but we managed on the Circle line with our luggage. Met our son at Kings Cross and had a bite to eat at Leon. Retrieved our tickets at the kiosk for the train to York near the 9 3/4 platform. Loved seeing Paddington and Kings Cross station and since we had allowed plenty of time for the train to York, there was no issue. Sometimes we like a varied experience to plan for future trips.
we are now at the St Pancras Hotel apartments. The building where the apartments are located seems to be finishing up their renovations, but again, not an issue. We booked through Onefinestay for Chambers529. The restaurant, Booking Office, is good as well as the shopping in the station. The building which has the hotel and apartments is truly a period piece and transports you back in time.
The street, Euston, is just outside the congestion zone, so is busy with numerous buses, cabs, cars and people.
