Transiting through Rome to Florence

Hello, am asking on behalf of a friend who is travelling from India to Florence and its a single ticket on the same airline company via Rome. They have a gap of 1 hr 30 mins at Rome. Is this enough time to catch their connecting flight to Florence..as we presume Immigration will be done at Rome... Looking for advice please as this will help them book their tickets. Thanks...

ITA? It should be. They will likely meet you some where before the gate and escort you the rest of the way. At least I often see ITA staff doing that.

You have ninety minutes between landing and departure or between landing and gate closure? Gate closure is the important one. ITA IIRC does it's fairly late. 15 minutes before departure. Something like that.

Worst case they'll put you on the desk flight. It seems they have three flights. Unless you're trying to catch the last one the worst that will happen is a longer layover.

Make sure that the bags are ticketed through to Florence.

ITA has several later flights to Florence. Since you're booked on one ticket, if you should miss the connection they will put you on a later flight.

Immigration is pretty efficient at Fiumicino. I would choose the flight they suggest. You will have to transfer to an adjacent terminal, but the connection time allowed should be sufficient.
