TRANSFERS WITHIN CDG
Good morning, am flying into CDG in early February and have not been there is many years. My concern is my arrival is at terminal 2C scheduled at 8:50AM and that my departure that morning is at termnal 2F scheduled at 9:55AM. My question is, I can not find information on how this transfer is mad, are the terminals within close walking distance, or is there a bus or tram used????

Visit www.adp.fr, the Aeroports de Paris site, and you'll find directions on making transfers and how much time to allow. The site is viewable in English.

I was scheduled for also a 65 minute 2C to 2F transfer on 12/24. This is the thread I started before going:
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34725034
And this was the result (read the sections "Flight details" and "CDG" halfway down):
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34730280
Bottomline - It's doable if you're lucky like me, but still likely to be stressful. Study and keep the boarding pass jacket as it will directions for transfers, and if your plane comes into a different terminal, you will have a printed guide to know what to do.

Hi D,
Be prepared to miss your flight.
It is not a long walk. There is also a shuttle.
However, your plane might not land on time.
Your plane might land somewhere way, way out and you will have to take a shuttle to 2C.
On our last visit, we had 90 min between flights and made it only because our departure was delayed 20 min.

I think that this question is usually asked after the ticket is booked because AF is notorious for booking tight connections and most pax don't realize how tight it is until they look closely at their tickets later on.
I recently changed my 45-minute connection at CDG, only because I am meeting other people at my final destination this trip. I have made it in one hour before, and usually don't fret a one-hour connection, but I've also always ensured that there are a few other flights to the same destination that same day.
I guess it depends on how detrimental it is that you are at your final destination on time.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if you make it. Many flights unload onto buses on the tarmac. Then they go REALLY SLOWLY to the terminal. Then they unload REALLY SLOWLY. By that time everyone on the bus has missed his or her connection.

I was just there for Christmas. Our flight from Nice was delayed due to fog over Paris. When we arrived they were calling out connections like mad. Various shuttles were on the tarmac to shuttle connecting passengers to their next gate and the baggage handlers got their things out immediately, plane-side. The rest of us boarded shuttles to the main terminal for baggage claim and ground transportation.
Call the airline and ask what can be done to escort you from one flight to the other.

This is an excerpt from my 2005 trip report. We landed in CDG on our way to Rome. We were going from Gate 2C to 2F:
"We left JFK at 5:10 p.m. and arrived in Paris on June 16 at 6 a.m. We have an hour and a quarter to make a connecting flight to Rome. We did not make it. For the first time in 50 years I missed a connecting flight. Why, you ask.
At Passport Control in Paris four sleepy clerks scrupulously examine each passport while five hundred frantic passengers wait on line. We get to our gate fifteen minutes late. This kind of snafu is apparently a regular occurrence. An Air France clerk told us it happens to “thousands of people” everyday. As a result, Air France was well organized to react and got us on to the next flight to Rome an hour later....."
We were lucky that there are many flights to Rome. It took only a little over an hour to get another flight to Rome. Leave a Minimum of two hours between connecting flights. 2C to 2F does not sound like much but it is given the possible lateness of your arrival; the congestion at Passport Control; etc. Remember we did not have to worry about luggage as it was checked through and still missed our Rome flight.

Wait a second... What's going on? When I posted my thread about betting whether I'd make MY 65-minute connection, most of the Fodorites think I will make it. But now most of you think dickv2 won't?
I think he can make it, but he needs to hussle.

I've posted before that it is luck if you make it. We left JFK a half hour late last June, the plane landed at CDG, we waited while the shuttles lumbered up, we had to wait while all passengers were on the shuttles, we lumbered to some sort of garage to have our passports checked, we got back an a shuttle that lumbered to the terminal we needed to leave from, we RAN to our gate and...you know the rest. ALSO, the idea that they will book you on the very next flight is ONLY if you have no checked baggage. We had to wait the requisite 2 hours for another flight because we had checked baggage and then when we finally arrived in Rome my luggage made it and my husband's didn't. Grrrrr....

PS The return through CDG was a comedy as dozens of people of all ages were led at a dead run through the terminal by an Air France rep who berated eveyone to HURRY UP! in French as we climbed stairs, raced through concourses, and across tarmacs. I felt like OJ Simpson in his better days, but looked like a crazy person on a mission from God. Never again!

i am coming into terminal 2F and have to go to 2A. what's the easiest thing to do? if my flight from rome is on time, i should have just over 2 hours to make the transfer. but since i am not on a connecting flight (2 seperate round trip tickets), i am nervous. so nervous i am going to try to do carry on for an 8 day trip. my last time though cdg, they picked us up at the gate and drove us to the next terminal and then ran us through the terminal. but it was a connecting flight. i won't have that this time around. thanks!

We mut have been lucky, as we arrived at our gate a half hour after departure time, the plane for Venice was still boarding and took off as soon as the doors were closed. Think arrival in Venice was on schedule....

A one hour change at CDG is a gamble not worth taking. My experience was that it failed, resulting in four hours of delay getting to our final destination.
Figure the probabilities: Failure to connect in one hour is common, causes a lot of delay and risks having uour luggage go astray. Connecting in two hours or more will work, no stress.
You pays your money and you takes your chances.

And I was worried about a 2.5 hr connection
although I will need to collect baggage , and as I'm on 2 seprate tickets , I have a problem if I miss it.
Is 2.5 hr enough with having to collect bags, and do I need to go thro' customs and back again or can I check in bags at CDG airside
(I can check in online)
