Does anyone know of a specific place in Positano where we can dump image data off of our digital camera memory cards and onto CD? I have to assume there is one, but it would be nice to know for sure.

We had this done at a photo shop in a town on the Amalfi Coast. It seemed expensive, but purchasing another memory card was going to be more. At least you know if you cannot get it done, you can always get another card, or take an extra along. Have a wonderful time in Italy.

Thanks, both. We've done this a number of times before in other countries. I knew there <i>had</i> to be someplace on the AC that could do it.

We got married on the Amalfi Coast and our photographer owns a photo shop and such. His shop is located right near the main piazza in Amalfi. It is pretty easy to find. His website is www.Ae5.it for his photography. It may have information on his photo shop too....if not, you can contact him via email from his website. His name is Massimo. I am sure he may be able to help you or direct you. He took all digital photos for our wedding and had a computer set up in his shop. They also sell film/camera accessories. I am sure they could do something for you.

We tried to find a place where we could get photos off our CD from the photographer to email them to our family while we were there since our family did not come for our wedding and had trouble at any of the internet cafes because they do not have a complete computer station with a tower and CD slot where you log on to access the internet. When we asked how we could email photos from the CD they told us we could not do it....

You can by a 64mb CompactFlash memory for less than $10 - the cost of burning a CD. Plus, you get to dump the memory for free when you get home and re-use it.

You can always e-mail photos directly from your camera memory if you carry a USB adapter. eCost is offering this one for free through May 31:

I forgot to mention that if you have a computer on a broadband connection in your hotel room (or even in the lobby), you can dump your images to e-mail and pick them up when you get home.

Make sure you can retrieve them before you erase your camera memory.

Thanks to all for your replies. <b>Robespierre</b>, the idea of buying more media occurred to me after I posted, and I looked online for the prices of CF media. Lo and behold, Amazon has SanDisk Ultra II 256 MB cards for less than $25 right now. Mine is on its way.

I had no idea flash memory cards were so cheap these days. Clearly, that's the way to go. Why spend $10 to offload images when $25 gets you sufficient reusable media?

Be careful when you use a web-based mail service and try to email the photos to yourself as Robespierre suggested. Check with your internet service provider how much mail space you have. You may find that you only have room for a few photos in your mailbox.

In 2005, all the big webmail providers (<i>e.g.</i> Google, Yahoo) offer one gigabyte free mail space, and more if you want to pay (or open multiple accounts, heh, heh). So space limitations shouldn't be a deterrent.
