Transfer
Headed for Edinburgh, I'm scheduled to arrive
at Heathrow (Term 4) about 9:30a.m. on Sat-
urday, Aug. 18th. I figure I can get a 12:00
train from London to Edinburgh. Is this realistic? And what's the best way for me make the transfer from
Heathrow to the train station? Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem!

Underground Piccadilly Line direct from T4 to King's Cross for Edingburgh train (1.5 hours?).

Or the Heathrow Express from T4 to Paddington (20 mins) then Underground on the King's Cross (another 20 mins).

Probably recommend Piccadilly Line as it's LOTS cheaper and no changes! Heathrow Express is quicker and comfier but you pay a hefty premium - and you still need to get from Paddington to King's X by tube!

Howard,

You can PROBABLY make it, but be aware that London airports are crowded with tourists in August. You'll have to wait for baggage, and you have to clear customs and immigration. It could be tight, or you could get lucky and sail right through in plenty of time.

If you've got much luggage, you may want to avoid the Tube...on a Saturday it won't be too crowded, but there is limited space for luggage and you sometimes have to deal with stairways where lifts/escalators are unavailable or not working--no problem at Heathrow station, but there have been some escalator woes at Kings Cross. The Heathrow Express to Paddington rail station, then a taxi to Kings Cross would be your alternative.

Trains depart Kings Cross for Edinburgh almost every hour...

Dave White
http://www.KidsToLondon.com
[email protected]
