Tram 8 in Rome...Construction?

Hi all...

Going to Rome in December. We have always taken the train to Trastevere and then tram 8 toward Argentina (near our rental) after arriving at FCO. Google maps shows Bus 8 but no Tram 8. The ATAC website lists tram 8 as having scheduled works...but says "Good service."

I assume they mean the replacement bus 8 has good service while the tram is not running. In other words, here are my questions...
  • Can I still get off the train at Trastevere and go toward Argentina using the replacement bus?
  • But more importantly, does the bus take the same route down Viale Trastevere toward Argentina that the tram took, or does it go some other out-of-the-way route?

Thanks.

Google maps gets its info from ATAC the Rome transit service. That includes real time tracking. IMHO it's more accurate than the ATAC. Not sure how that can be but it is.

It's not just tram 8, but all trams and it appears the bus replacements are free. I don't see dates though.

TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE CONSTRUCTION SITE, TRAM SERVICE HAS BEEN STOPPED
. To make room for the Anas construction sites, we are replacing the entire tram service with buses that follow the same routes as the trams, except for the areas affected by the work.THE ROUTES OF THE REPLACEMENT BUS LINES

Please note that the replacement tram lines 2BUS, 3BUS, 5BUS, 8BUS, 14BUS, and 19BUS are free.

Line 8: completely replaced by buses. The morning and evening services to and from Porta Maggiore have also been replaced by buses.LINE 8 CASALETTO-PIAZZA VENEZIA/VIA DEGLI ASTALLI

DIRECTION PIAZZA VENEZIA/VIA DEGLI ASTALLI

- the Casaletto terminus is in the side lane of the Gianicolense ring road near the tram terminus shared with the terminus of line 088

- from the Gianicolense ring road near Via del Casaletto to Via Ozanam, buses stop in the side lane, shared with line 792

-from Piazza San Giovanni di Dio to Piazza Sonnino, the stops are the same as the tram stops

-in Via Arenula the buses stop in the side lane, shared with the night line N8

CASALETTO DIRECTION

-Piazza Venezia: buses depart from Via degli Astalli (the street that leads from the tram terminus to Via del Plebiscito) instead of from the tram terminus.

- the replacement buses of line 8 make an extraordinary stop at 79711 in Largo Argentina and then in Piazza Cairoli they stop for the tram

-from Ponte Garibaldi, in Viale Trastevere and on the Gianicolense ring road, buses make all stops in the side lane of the road, in common with the N8 night line
