Trains to Murren

I will be staying in Murren for four nights in September. During my stay, I am planning to take some day trips to Grindlewald and Wengen, etc. Does anyone know how late the train/cog rail runs back to Murren or where I can find out this information. Thanks.

Hi, try the SBB site at sbb.ch and plug in the towns, a date, and approx. time. I used it before my recent trip and found it to be accurate consistently. J.

I stayed in Murren in mid June. Starting at 7:00 pm the cogwheel runs once per hour until the last one at 9:00 pm. If you are later than that, I believe you must then take a bus to the cable car to Murrenwhich runs later but I don't know how late. My advise would be to get back to Lauterbrunnen by 9:00 pm.

When you first get to the Lauterbrunnen train station, ask them for a train schedule which details the leave/arrival time for the trains between these cities (Wengen- Lauterbrunnen is one train. Grindlewald - Lauterbrunnen is two trains.

Troy,

A small bit of advice; When you go to Grindlewald, take the train up through Wengen-Kleine Scheidegg-GWald. On the way back, take the train down the valley to connect back up the Lauterbrunnen Valley. You can buy the whole round-trip at the Murren station. This was what the attendant in Murren suggested, and it was cheaper, and much faster at the end of a long day. Enjoy.

You will be amazed at the efficiency of the Swiss rail systems. When you go to buy your ticket, they will print out for you all the timetables you need in order to take your trip.

I'm sure someone else on the board can comment on the Bernese Oberland train pass (I had a Swiss pass when I went) to see whether that would make sense for you.
