I'm saying you have a reading comprehension problem and are wrong in your interpretation of stations you are not familiar with>

my comprehension problem is furthered i guess by the 2010 Rough Guide which says there are about hourly buses from Chiusi to Montepulciano and other buses coming from Siena/

So i guess that Let's Go, About.com and now Rough Guides are ALL wrong and you are right, right?

Q for you - how many buses a day go to Multipulciano from Chiusi and Siena and other points? You seem to know exactly - so how many are there and their frequency?

the major debate here is that you say it is virtually impossible to reach towns like Montepulciano and Chianti in Greve by bus - right? And i say you do not need a car because you can easily reach these places by bus

that is the crux of the issue

I'm not sure why you want to argue all the time especially when you are not familiar with these buses/stations and aren't understanding the schedules. Your posts could cause travelers to be stranded miles from where they need to be or expect an hourly bus when there is none.>

OK support this statement - again how many buses to Montepulciano and Chianti do YOUR schedules show - right now i have to go with three major publications and their findings but let's see what you have

how many buses to each and why in your mind it is daft to try to go to these two towns by bus or train/bus?

Let's have it please.

While waiting for kybourbon to respond with how many buses Chiusi to Montepulciano her schedules she has say there are...

From Rick Steves web site: (someone posted)

<I went from Montepulciano to Rome by bus and train via Chiusi last year. As I recall, train was about EUR 14 and bus was about EUR 3. There are frequent trains from Rome that stop in Chiusi and frequent buses from Chiusi train station to Montepulciano (even a few on Sundays).>

More anecdotal evidence that buses Chiusi-Montepulciano are indeed frequent - on weekdays but not on Sunday - Sunday is one day there may be few buses because the buses are for locals - workers, etc. Perhaps kybourbon was there on a Sunday or has Sunday schedules?

From Frommers: More evidence that frequent buses link Chiusi to Montepulciano - here are the sites kybourbon - do you still say there are few buses Chiusi to Montepulciano and you could get stuck there? Before skewing others about alleged misninformation..... check a bit better

By Bus -- Five to eight Tra-in buses (tel. 0577-204-111; www.trainspa.it) run three to five times daily from Siena (1 1/2 hr.) through Pienza (20 min.). LFI (tel. 0578-31-174) buses run hourly from Chiusi (50 min.) through Chianciano Terme (25 min.), and twice daily from Florence to Bettole, where you transfer for the bus to Montepulciano (2 hr. total). There are three direct buses daily from Florence run by Ferroviaria lines (no phone).

In Montepulciano, buy Tra-in and Ferroviaria tickets at Caffè Tubino, in the little parking lot just below Porta al Prato; get LFI tickets from the tabacchi/bar at Via Gracchiano del Corso 36-38.

kybourbon - click on www.trainspa.it and scroll down to bus F T4/A

and you will see about hourly bus service - according to the schedule there - all day between Chiusi Stazione and Montepulciano - lots of buses - no advance planning needed except perhaps on sundays when there are fewer buses.

Kybourbon - is this the smoking gun you demanded? Do you still say folks risk being stranded in Montepulciano?

>I'm not sure why you want to argue all the time especially when you are not familiar with these buses/stations and aren't understanding the schedules.>

Ok bourbon i admit those Italian schedules and the footnotes are hard for folks who no speak Italian - so correct me on how i am misreading that schedule. Grazze!

PQ - Please provide schedule links, bus numbers, bus company names for the frequent buses to Greve and Montepulciano you are recommending as I am unaware of them>

From TripAdvisor

Re: Bus from Greve in Chianti to Florence
26 July 2010, 6:29
There's a link to the pdf files of the time table plus other useful info on getting to and from Greve on this page: greve-in-chianti.com/getting-to-greve/gettin… Make sure that you understand what the symbols mean since the bus schedule is different on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The main bus stop of Greve is in Piazza Trento on the main road. You buy your tickets in the pizzeria on the piazza if its open or at Lepanto in the main piazza (Piazza Matteotti). The nearest parking is either on via Primo Maggio or the parking lot by the post office. There's no charge for those two areas. There are several buses per day but the important thing to note is that the last bus back to Greve leaves Florence at 8 pm or 8.30 pm depending on the day

bourbon - i'll look for more - seems Florence city bus 49 may well also run to Chianti in Greve, which proves easy to get to by bus from Florence.

Please show me where i said there were frequent buses between Greve and Montepulciano. Please because i cannot find me saying anything like that and would not have because there are no doubt few if any. Please do not put your words in my mouth!
