trains

Does anyone know if the "unofficial" train strike in Ireland has ended yet? Am hoping to be able to take the train from the west coast to Dublin.

Julie,
No it has not - check out www.cie.ie and the link to Irish Rail to see if the trains o Galway are affaected. Trains on some lines are not affected at all esp trains to Sligo in the North west. However trains to Castlebar in Mayo and Killarney are badly hit. Hope this helps

Cathy

PS Also keep an eye on www.ireland.com - the web site of the Irish Times

Julie,
The train strike is indeed over as of Monday 28th August. Hopefully the peace will last and there won't anymore unofficial strikes - for further details try www.cie.ie

Have a good trip

Cathy

Just returned and the strike is over and the trains were fine, albeit a bit slow compared to the rest of Europe.
