But Neuschwanstein is so so much more than a congested 30-minute visit - there is also Hohenschwangau Castle next to it and again surprises at every turn.

If using regional trains one reason to buy the Bavarian card in first class (I believe it is available in first class too and only for about 12 eurose total for the group - the price a few cups of cofee or steins of beer- is that regional trains can get very crowded at times in 2nd class as they are commuter trains basically - I've seen groups of school kids crowd aboard for a few stops as these trains seem to also act like school buses. First class IME always has lots of empty seats even if 2nd class is SRO.
To me well worth the relatively little extra money.
