Train Tickets From London to Paris Through Chunnel

Hello, we are trying to determine how to book train tickets online from London to Paris (one-way trip). We are travelling in early October, 2010, if that is a factor. Can anybody help?
Thank-you, Ed

Have you checked the Eurostar website? It may default to www.raileurope.com but either will give you an idea of schedules and costs.

Thank-you for your reply, Cathinjoetown. Another question, What is the difference between Rail Europe and EuroRailways? For the two hour and twenty minute trip to Paris from London is second class sufficient/comfortable (we are me, daughter and granddaughters traveing--will there be room to store our luggage near us in second class? Thank-you, Ed

Hello - There's only one train that goes between London and Paris and that is the Eurostar. I recommend booking as soon as possible as prices go up dramatically the closer you get to your travel date. 2nd class seats are fine...totally standard size and they'll either have a fold down table or you can even sit at a table (select when you book). There are racks at either end of the car for storing luggage and also overhead storage on the train.

RailEurope and EuroRailways are resellers and usually tickets are more expensive from them than from the railway's own site.

Cut out the middleman and use EuroStar.com site.

2nd class is quite comfortable. Much better than flying or taking a bus.

If you clear your cookies out and go back to the Eurostar website and choose a different nationality instead of American. You may then find that the prices are lower.

Sometimes there are round trip specials that are cheaper than one way fares. Just throw out the return. The return can even be in 2nd class if you're traveling first.

Yes, go direct to the operator, www.eurostar.com, pay online and simply print out your own ticket.

And keep your ticket. It is good for 2 for 1 entry to several museums in Paris, for the first 5 days you are there. I just saved 21 Euro on tickets for 2 exhibits at the GrandPalais

What is the difference between RailEurope and EuroRailways - a big difference - RailEurope is owned by the SNCF French and Swiss Railways and agents like EuroRailways work thru RailEurope (i presume since RailEurope is the 800 pound gorilla amongst the several officially recognized agents who sell tickets and railpasses for the consortium of European railways (so called Euronet system) and deals directly with the Eurostar outfit.

Prices often have no rhyme or reason between raileurope.com and eurostar.com - at at times RE could even be cheaper - but usually eurostar.com is IME but i always say check both sources as you never know. And i always recommend asking for a manual check of RE's fares as they do not always IME display the cheapest fares they actually may have - i recommend calling budgeteuropetravel.com - a RE agent and one i have dealth with for railpasses for many years - for expert IME advice. But the key thing is the early bird gets the worm so hop on the cheapest fare you can get - rare that they would go down - seats in various fare categories are sold in strict allotments. These are e tickets so there are no mailing fees involved.

Prices should always be the same at RailEurope and its agents - price being set by RailEurope.

Yo get the cheapest fare book ASAP (up to 120 days allowed) at www.eurostar.com. The price for remaining sets keeps rising as more tickets are sold.

And IME try to point for a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday to travel as the cheaper fares are more available on these slacker travel days i believe.

While tickets for weekend travel sell faster than tickets for midweek travel, if you book a full 120 days in advance you should be able to get the cheapest fare (currently 42.50 EUR) for any time of day on any day of the week.

the point is as ever the early bird gets the Eurostar worm. Snap up that 42.50 euro ticket whenever you are sure of taking a certain train.

Wow a whole thread with the dread term to Brits "Chunnel" in the title and not one single stern correction that 'it is not the Chunnel but Channel Rail Tunnel' - a first i do believe.
