Train Stations in Prague, Vienna & Budapest

Going on a 3 week trip to those 3 cities in May - one week in each city. I'd like to know which train staions we would use from P to V & V to B. Planning to buy our rail tix as needed.
Flying in to P, home from B

Thanks

Prague to Vienna use the main Prague station, Hlavni Nadrazi; Vienna to Budapest use either Westbahnhof or the main station

The station in Vienna depends on which train you're taking. When you buy your tickets it will be marked on the ticket. You request a time you want to leave.

I would check the schedules before buying tickets as some trains take longer than others and have more connections. For instance, there's a 10:00 train from V to B with no connections that takes 3 hours and a 10:21 train with 1 connection that takes 4.25 hours. You can check the schedules on:

Also note that the Vienna train stations have been in some flux while major construction is going on in the central station there. Our train last spring from V to B left from a different station than it historically did I think. You might be able to check the current status at this Vienna tourism information page about its train stations. http://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/...train-stations

You can also check by using the GermanRail site at www.bahn.de (there is an English language version) or the Austria Railways (for Vienna departures) site here:

What I would do, ahjay, is to look for the train you wish to take on the timetable and there you will see which stations are used, for arrival and departure, because some trains can leave from a different staion that the others.

I use http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/fn

but many here prefer : http://www.bahn.de/i/view/GBR/en/index.shtml

Vienna to Budapest seem to leave all from Vienna Meidling except one early in the morning (on an arbitrary date) from West. These are direct trains. From the Vienna main station always need 1 or 2 changes.

It looks like : Prague to Vienna is always from Prague hl.n. ( main station). When it was under renovation, many trains used other stations but renewed since about a couple of years, Prague Main seems to be working fully. The arrival station is mostly Vienna Meideling. Maybe that's because of the constrution works, Laurie-Ann mentions above.
