Train reservation

Is it recommended to reserve seats on the train from Rome to Naples or can we wing it? We will be traveling on 9/26/06. Suggestions appreciated.

Two trains an hour means you should have little problem getting tickets - but nearly all of these, or at least the faster trains, require reservations before boarding and these come with your tickets. So i think you'll have no problem buying these tickets in Italy but do it as soon as you arrive if you are certain of your travel times.
Can do at Rome's Airport train station i believe for future travel all over Italy.

Be sure to get a seat assignment too! Didn`t know how important that was until we had to sit in the jump seats in the aisle.

Only on slower IC trains on this route are seat reservations optional - on all other trains, ICp (ICplus), Eurostar and the just put into service Eurostar AV trains seat reservations come automatically with tickets. There are relatively few IC trains but on these you can buy a ticket and use it on any IC trains.
