In a previous posting (4/30/2001) Mel gave a phone# to call from the states for London/Edinburgh train reservations. It was 011-44-345-484-950. Is that # still correct, who would I be calling, & is that the best # to call for good rates? Also, are there luggage restrictions (do you carry on or check)? Many thx for any info. Meg

The phone number for ticket purchase on GNER, the main train company for London to Edinburgh run, is (from US): 011 44 8457 225 225. I can't guarantee if it works from the States, but worth trying. Or you can book on-line at www.gner.co.uk You can bring reasonable amount of luggage. There are racks at the end of each carriage and also space between seats. You can't check luggage.

I just visited GNER's website and apparently if you order tickets online they can only mail the tickets to a UK address. This seems to be new since when perusing the site 2 months ago it did not have this restriction.<BR><BR>Lisa

The other one to try might be Virgin Trains, as if you order online, you can arrange to pick up at the station of departure. They also run Edinburgh - London ... you could try www.virgintrains.co.uk.<BR><BR>Good Luck!

Bought tickets online twice for London-Edinburgh. Just picked the ticket up both times at the station. I made a quick trip on the tube to get them a day or two before traveling so I would not be rushed the day of travel. Last time I did it was Dec. 2000.
