Train Pass vs. Individual Tickets in France??
Hi, I am traveling for 7 weeks this summer, and was wondering about purchasing a "pass" from the States for use there. But then I see the Prem's prices, and think maybe I should purchase individual tickets. I will need to buy a 2-month pass, plus extra days, which comes to about $280. As I try to add up individual ticket prices for my itinerary, the euro price equals about $250. My itin: Paris-Nice-Nimes-Toulouse-Dijon-Paris... But I might want to travel to Italy since I'll be in Nice for one month. Please help?!? Thanks!

You'll have to pay for reservations on premier trains whether you have a pass or not...the price will be rolled into the individual ticket price if you don't have a pass.
Have you input your itinerary into www.railpass.com or railsaver.com? If not, I suggest you do so to compare.
Also bear in mind that passes come with the convenince of not having to stand in lines or use machines to buy tickets on most trains so "spur of the moment" trips can be somewhat easier.

We had a train pass in France which allowed an adjoning country as well. We had friends in Frankfurt so we used it for Germany as well. Maybe you could do the same with Italy? Our passes were purchased in Australia but I guess they would be available in the States too (assuming that's where you are). Cheers!
