Train into Venice

We will be arriving in Venice by train from Rome during our trip next month. How long can we expect the trip, from the train station to our apartment in Zattere, to take? We are planning to take the No. 2 Vaporetto rather than a water taxi.

Gosh I did that twice staying at La Calcina. Truly I don't remember exactly but it wasn't hard to do and didn't take too long. I'll be interested to see other people's answers.

It will take 10-15 minutes by vaporetto.

Sorry - I only gave the time from the station to the Zattere vaporetto stop. Have no idea how long it will take you to walk to your apartment.

I also gave the time for line 51. Line 2 will take 30 minutes.

If you're taking an ES train add about 4:20 to the above times.

If you mean from the Venice Santa Lucia station and then via vaparetto to Zattere, I'd give it at least 45 minutes to include waiting time.

Thanks for the information. Now that I have finally firgured out how to use the route maps, I can see that it is not far.

Can you purchase the 72 hour passes at the P. Roma stop or at the train station?

adrienne - I realize now that line 51 is a much better option than 2. I was looking for the time from Venice's Santa Lucia station. I think we will allow 1 hour from the train's arrival time til getting to the apartment.

Yes you can buy the pass at the vaporetto stop at the train station. Please remember it is exactly a 72 hour pass, not a 3-day pass. It ends 72 hours from when you first used it.
