What is the easiest way to take the train from Frankfurt airport to Marburg- will arrive at Terminal 1 at about 11 am Tuesday from US. Thanks so much.

Buy a ticket at the airport train station to Marburg. Hop the train to Frankfurt and then the train to Marburg. There are many trains a day so don't worry about reservations.

The trip from the Airport railway station to Marburg takes about an hour and a half, and costs about €22 Second Class. The route goes from the airport to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof via S-Bahn, and then you change at the HBF onto a Regional Express to Marburg. All very easy. As Hopscotch says, there are usually at least two trains each hour, so reservations are not necessary.

In fact, reservation is not even possible on Regional express trains, so there is no need to buy in advance.

Keep in mind that there are both RE and IC trains that go to Marburg. The express trains run at 22 or 23 past the hour, with even hours being the IC and odd being the RE. The only reason this makes a difference is that RE tickets will not be valid on the IC trains. The local RE trains only take an extra 15 minutes, so if the next one is not the express, you might as well take it as you'll still get in sooner than if you wait for the express.

Enjoy your trip,
Paul

€22 is the fare to Marburg if you take an IC (DB ticket). If you go via the Regional Express (RE), the RMV ticket costs €12,50.

RMV is Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund, the local transit district for most of the southern part of Hessen, including Marburg. RMV runs the regional trains in the district, as well as S-/U-bahns and most buses. Bahn.de won't give you a fare just for conveyances run by RMV. You have to go to the RMV website, www.rmv.de.
