Train from Cinque Terre to Rome??
Our family of 4 (two adults, two teens) has a trip planned later this month to Italy, with the following itinery:
Arrive Florence, rent a car and drive to Greve for three nights at Villa Vignamaggio (with day trips to Siena, San G)
Drive to Cinque Terre, stopping at Lucca, and staying 2 nights at Monterossa (Ville Steno)
Train to Rome, with 4 nights at Ponte Sisto.
We are keeping our stops to a minimum to enjoy some relaxation and experience the area. The one question we have at this time is the travel from Cinque Terre to Rome. In order to avoid the hazards of driving close to Rome, we are planning at taking the train. The question is where to drop the car and take the train -- right away in La Spezia or drive further south to Pisa . . . or somewhere else.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Marj - Are you planning to keep the car in the Cinque Terre?
You probably won't have much use for it there - the Cinque Terre villages are best visited by ferry, train - or hiking.
If you don't need the car there, I suggest you drop it in La Spezia on your arrival day.
If you do keep the car there, you could drop it in La Spezia, Pisa or Civitavecchia en route to Rome - depending how far you want to drive.
Hope this helps ...
