Train from Amsterdam to Paris

We will be taking the train from Amsterdam to Paris this May. Can any recommend a stop over in a French town of interest on this route? We enjoy Paris but would like to spend a day and night in another area of France.

On the way to Paris you are passing through Antwerp and Brussels. You can see these places and visit Bruges

You specify a town in France. I think Arras was damaged heavily in 1914 to 1928, so suggest you think of Amiens, a typical, pleasant, French town. Nothing special, but good for a day or so. Welcome to Europe Ben Haines, London

Thank you all for your help. I will try to gather more information on the French towns. We have been to Brussels and Bruges. Ben, can you be more specific regarding Amiens? Cafe, shopping, churches, etc. Thank you as always. I love this site.
