BTW Baden-Baden is a great first stop in Germany from Colmar/Strasbourg areas - one of Europe's venerable old spas - once the watering hole of the rich and famous and royals in the 1800s - Baden Baden today still has a verdant look and feel and the ornate old castle can be toured before it opens for business and is a fabulous tour.

Plus with the bargain Bavarian Pass for 39 euros I think - may be 29 euros>

It's 29 euros - I was corrected on another thread - not 39 euros - even more of a deal!

for 50 euros + 2 if you buy it at a ticket window and not online you can have first-class Bavarian Passes and guarantee yourself lots of empty seats around you and rarely if ever the SRO that can always occur in 2nd class - can does not mean usually BTW.

so for an extra 10 euros a person for a longish train trip to Salzburg consider paying the little extra for a lot more comfort IME.
