I have not done a Trafalgar Tour but they have been in business a long time. I can't pull up a thread for you, but you might try to google a tour group message board...I've done it before..and see what people have to say. Also, you could check reviews about the Jurys Inn Islington on Trip Advisor. Someone here also may have stayed there and have some info for you.
In general people on this board are "do it yourselfers" and do independent travel and don't do tours. I took a tour with Globus about 10 years ago and enjoyed it very much. It was my first trip to Europe and I learned a lot and since then have taken all my trips independently. Depending on the destination and circumstances, I would probably take a tour again. I hope you have a great time.

I would check on one of the tour groups sites - you're likely to get a lot more info, since many posters here are independent travelers. Islington is at the esnd of hell and gone as far a tourist London is concerned.
farofaro: Jury's Inn Islington is where you'll be sleeping, not where you'll be hanging around during the day -- so you wouldn't need to be eating in that neighborhood but where you are touring around during the day.
BTW - You may want to e-mail katie at [email protected] and ask her to remove the "Trip Report" tag. This isn't a trip report -- that is what you'll post after your trip to tell us how it went. Since you are looking for advice - some people won't think to open your thread thinking it is reporting about your experience on a Trafalgar Tour.

Hi
We did a Trafalgar Tours CostSaver - Rome to London - back in 2001. No complaints. Be aware that you are expected to tip the Tour Director and driver which will add to the cost.

The only real traditional English eating close to Jury's is the pie and mash shop in Chapel St. There's a pretty mediocre chippy or two there as well.
The Fish Shop (www.thefishshop.net)is a highly untraditional fish & chip shop with pretentions to gentility and is close by. The nearest good, proper, traditional chippy is Fish Central at 149 Central St, EC1V 8AP.
Islington ranks with Oxford as the really mediocre chain restaurant capital of the universe, and is a serious mecca for undiscriminating adolescents (of any age) at weekends out to get jarred and eat lots of Nando's chicken or Carluccio's disgraceful parody of the Italian food he used to cook properly.
However, towards the west end of Chapel St, on its south side, there's the best value eating place in London. An unbranded, garishly green, Indian vegetarian place (with a bit of a mission to convert us all to veggies), it does all you can eat buffets of varying (but rarely high) quality insanely cheaply. These days, of course, Indian's about as traditionally English as you can get.
