Tour to Stonehenge & Bath

Another post suggest an Evan Evans tour to Stonehenge and Bath. Are there other operators that offer that? Should we make reservations in advance, or can we wait till we get to London? (Going in August ... obsessing already!)

I made my reservations with Evan Evans two weeks in advance just to be safe. They have a website. I picked them because I had heard mostly good things about them. We enjoyed the tour with them and felt we had plenty of time at both sites. We had an informative tour guide that talked mostly on the tour bus and then you had all the free time once you got there.

Hi Dee,Although it doesn't hurt to plan ahead,I usually don't bother.I let the weather determine if I do outdoor stuff like Stonhenge or indoor stuff like museums etc. There are several alternatives to book the trip,The tourist office at Victoria Stn.books a variety of bus trips that start from the station. Also most hotels can set you up with excursions e.g Golden Tours. These you would need to book a day or two ahead.I'm sure you'll love Bath & S.Enjoy.

I'd wait, then decide when I get to London. Your hotel should be able to help you book the tour easily. We did it the day before with no problems, though I'd probably do it 2-3 days in advance, so you will have options if necessary. The tour is great, well worth the expense.

I'm with Linda here -- a day ahead should be okay -- 2-3 if you are nervous

We took the EE trip to Stonehenge and Bath and were quite pleased. It IS a bus tour -- but they run a pretty good show. Just remember your bus #, what it looks like and where they said they would be to pick you up. Bath can get quite thick with coaches in peak season.

I've written on this before, but here goes. They will take you to the Roman Bath Museum first. There is a large [and interesting] museum between the upper and lower views of the baths -- if you want to see anything else in BATH RUN through that museum. Be sure to see the Poultney Bridge --w e ate at Cafe Uno along the river on the way to the bridge. Here are our pictures of Bath. There are two pages so follow the link at the bottom. [You can find Stonehenge from the links on the bottom also!]http://www.geocities.com/travelswithus/england/bath.htm
I took EE tour to Stonehenge and Bath - booked it only a day or so in advance through American Express Travel office in London. The EE Tour guide was a riot and made it quite enjoyable! Only problem for us was the VERY limited time it offered in Bath which is worth exploring in more depth. We ditched the tour group upon arrival in Bath, opting instead to spend additional money to take the train back to London (it was worth it!) Have a great time!

Hello Krista,

Single from Bath to London is £30 (excl. Fridays).
If you are able to book a few days in advance, it's £25.
If you are able to book AT LEAST a week in advance, ask for an APEX ticket, which costs £17.50.

Hope this helps ...

Steve
There are many other tour operators!! Try Astral Tours (www.astraltravels.co.uk) and Back Road Touring (www.backroadstouring.co.uk).
