It may be too late to chime in to this, but considering the occasion (your anniv.) and the amount of time you have (9 days), I agree you should not take the tour, but spend three days each in Venice, Florence, and Rome on your own at your own pace. Save the other extra sights for the next time. You WILL go back to Italy, believe me!
It's true, as Vincenzo says, that going from Ferrara to Pisa to Florence is crazy -- the tour has to go past Florence to Pisa and then backtrack. Then Florence to Siena to Assisi to Rome is also a crazy day. And historic Florence is so small you don't need anyone to show you around.
Buy a good tour book for each city that has easy-to-read maps and suggested itineraries. Relax, relax, relax.
