Tossa de Mar - good beach town?

I'm going to Spain in July with a group of four, Everyone's in there late 20's what is there to do in Tossa de Mar? Especially beach related, Watersports, boats, dancing etc... Is it worth spending a few days (3) there?

Thanks!
Liz

Yes, Tossa is a fun town with a very good beach---my pick on the Costa Brava.

Tossa de Mar is considered more Spanish or Catalan resort than bigger places further south, but in July it gets its share of pan-European visitors in search of sun and sand. You don't come to Costa Brava for the quality of beaches, as most of them have coarse sand and are steeply shelving. There are many smaller coves, often situated spectacularly at the bottom of sheer cliffs, some accessible only by boats or steep footpath. There should be standard watersports at Tossa, but for wider choice head for Platja d'Aro or Roses further north. There are some discos and clubs at Tossa, but most head for the old town under the castle walls where there are many tapas bars and seafood restaurants. For more lively and noisy nightlife, try Lloret de Mar, 6 km south by frequent bus, which has, among masses of mediocre bars, some high-tech discos with laser shows. Also a casino. There are frequent boat trips up and down Costa Brava.

Hi Liz xxx
Tossa has lots of watersports for everyone's tastes. Water skiing, banana boat, parasailing, kayak rentals, snorkelling, scuba,(tons of people come to scuba especially at night for some reason) sailing.....There are boat trips from the main beach to other towns along the coast.
I should point out that while Tossa has all this stuff if you're looking for more night life Lloret de mar (gulp) has more in this line. It's a hopping place but very ugly IMO. Beaches at both Tossa and Lloret are good. The beach itself is sandy but on entering the water it does tend to shelf a bit and it is pebbly but not uncomfortably so.
We have spent two weeks in Tossa the last few summers after one try at LLoret. As far as I know there is only one disco type place in Tossa but Lloret has lots.
Tossa is a very pretty place , crowded like everywhere else along this coast in July.
Enjoy

Fabulous town! Stay in the Hotel Diana. Across the street from the Mediterranean. A more wonderful place to 'hang' for 3 or 4 days you couldn't find. Food, sightseeing, watersports...zowie. Do it.
