EasyTraveler, I really believe this story because I have often wondered about people that get plastic surgery (nose, ears, chin etc.) and than have children. Do they think children will look like parents AFTER parents have had the plastic surgery?

Hooters stock might be at its peak now. But it'll surely start to sag in about 20 years.

THEY'RE swingin in the rain....I'm not as ignorant as I seem but as you have probably noticed...if I had to type for a living I's starve to death...hmmm..not a bad idea..then I'd look better in those jeans we've been talking about all day. But then there's the black sweater thing to deal with...probably the best color for what ever I have swingin'....so take THAT mk2 or m2k or 2darn bad..oh what ever.

I know this thread is supposed to be frivolous, but I also note, not for the first time, the vitriol (passed off as humour) towards older women that is rarely levelled against their male counterparts. I can think of plenty of women over 40 who don't have my admiration for one reason or another, but after reading platzman's cynical and snide 'joke', they get my sympathy.
For that matter, one rarely hears of men being held up for mockery because this or that body part is sagging. Not, of course, that a genuinely amusing observation can arise from TWO sour, cynical jabs.

As for Hooters, such places invite intense scrutiny not just of the women who work there, but of women in general. Perhaps men believe that where judging others is concerned, the best defense is a good offense.

What was it someone said? Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength.

I apologize if my remark offended anyone. I hear this kind of humor from women more than men.

Sue xx yy..I don't know how old you are but I for one have reached a ..ah hem...certain age. The good thing is, I feel more confident, more tolerant..most of the time..and I find more humor in the "human condition". I really try not to take myself too seriously..trust me, I can be VERY serious when the situation calls for it. I'll be honest with you, I don't especially enjoy certain aspects of ageing, but considering the alternative, I think aging is just fine. I can't afford a personal trainer, I can't afford a plastic (make that platic) surgeon, I exercise when I can, but I have to tell ya'...gravity is winning. So, I do the best with what I've still got and have learned to laugh at the rest. No one meant anything mean or unkind in any of the posts on this thread, and it's sad that you saw the humor as mocking and unkind. I for one am just fine with who I am, in spite of what you think and having said THAT..I would keep my humor and my wisdom..and oh God, please give me Heather Locklear's body....that's the only way I'm going to be able to travel with Huge Grant.

crefloors-to quote you
"The Chinese women are not know for their large...well....hmmmmm hooters!! If it's a success, platic surgeons will leave Hollywood and head for China. I know...we should all buy stock in Charmin...the girls will be using it to stuff their bras."

WHAT???? That's your example of a comment that's not mean and unkind???

crefloors, I've got dibs, you're going to have to wait in line because I've been saying that prayer for a long time: "oh God, please give me Heather Locklear's body".

sognatrice, a reminder of what you said on another thread:
"I might find someone else's posts highly annoying, unfunny, offensive or irrelevant, but at least I know they have an equal right to be here! As I understand it, we're not on here to judge each other's personalities, or are we? "

A lot depends upon underlying fundamentals and whether they can maintain an adequate support structure.

As always, Ira, you know how to join in the fun and yet remain above the fray. A REALLY good joke/comment/insult/comeback is always understated. You are the master!

Back in the 80's I remember when "Wham" did a concert tour in China. When the tour was over, the Chinese government was unsure if such concerts s/b allowed. They said it "overstimulates" people. And now they have Hooters in China. I am no fan of Hooters, but I must admit, the Chinese government has come a long way in 20 years.
