"York is a waste of time".......

I'd hate to waste my time inside a medievel walled city with bobbled streets out of a Dickensian street and visit a range of buildings, which include the cathedral, of great beauty. York also has an impressive and free railway museum and as well as other nearby sights has the amazing Fountains abbey, which a bunch of boys will love running around. Yorvik centre I might leave alone as it is part of a conglomerate famous for high prices and low delivery. For mum there is Betty's which is an instituion in Yorkshire.

"York is a waste of time" I've never heard such tosh, except perhaps, when I get stuff wrong

""York is a waste of time"......."

This is a ... person who can't read a review and book a B&B. Ignore their post.

Trying to do both York and Bath is a mistake. One is west of London and one is north. There are other worthwhile places to see near either. And London can absorb as much time as you can give it, with or without day trips.

Bizarre - what was the second city of England pared down to a day trip from the capital.

if you applied the argument that you can't ever have enough time in London/Paris/Rome, you'd never go anywhere else.

"York is a waste of time, except for the minster......"

How sad! York is a city of great character, history and beauty. So much to see and do for all the family.

I'm lucky enough to live quite close and must have been there dozens of times. Sometimes it is just to drive to the station to catch a train for work, but it still enthrals and delights me. I am sure you will love it.

Even the train station in Europe is amazing - old Victoria train shed and uniquely curves as the tracks do.

Pay no attention to ambo's driveling remarks - he recently said AMsgterdam had no world-class museums and wasn't worth a day either. He/she seems to want to raise hackles more than anything else - either that or he has never been to York and Amsterdam or maybe both!

Pal...if I ever travel overseas again, I would consider getting a universal restraining order to keep Rambo-Ambo no less than 100 miles from me. Yech!

He/she/it could well be a Yank - maybe extend that wise order to all the U.S. - his/her/its only goal seems to be to provoke with idiotic statements like that about Amsterdam having no really good museums and York being a total dud after the Minster.
