Tomar accommodation revisited
Of course, I've tweaked my itinerary a bit -- I know it's crazy
but I really wanted to have 3 nights in Tomar. Everything else was changeable, but there's no availability at the Thomar Boutique hotel for my 3rd night.
There's no availability in Hotel dos Templários or Casa dos Ofícios, either! Tomar is definitely happening!!
I've found availability at the simple Thomar Story guesthouse and the O Paço , which is on the same side of the river as Thomar Boutique hotel. Which would be better? The first seems simple but adequate. The second is a little further away (though close to Thomar Boutique hotel) with nicer accommodations.
I've also seen some availability for some airbnb places, mostly on the side of the river as the Thomar Story guesthouses.

Yes, progol, tourism has come roaring back in Portugal!
The Hotel dos Templarios does a lot of convention/congress business, so I'm not surprised that it's already booked.
What room(s) does the Thomar Story have available? Some look quite small. If a larger room is available there, like the double with kitchenette at 258 square feet, I would book that one, but the O Paço looks like an even nicer property. My vote: O Paço.

O Paço gets my vote, too. I found it after I booked Thomas Story guest house (triple room, so not the smallest), but just wanted to make sure it’s reasonably close. It’s nearby Thomas Boutique, so it can’t be too far. It has a decent terrace, too.
I’m really shocked that so much is booked up! I had thought if Tomar as a somewhat under visited place, but if it was, it certainly isn’t now!
But however disappointing it is to lose my initial booking, I’m relieved to have the 3 days in Tomar back. There is so much to see in the region and it just felt like a tight squeeze. I’m okay with the change.
