Toledo or Salamanca?

We want to take a day trip from Madrid. Which city would be better, Toledo or Salamance? We enjoy walking around and seeing sites. Thanks for your help!

Salamanca is lovely, but there is more to see, in my opinion, in Toledo, which is an older, more intricate city that bears the marks of Visigoth and Arab culture as well as Spanish.

Both are wonderful - couldn't chose one over the other...but Salamanca is a much farther day trip if that matters.

As a day trip from Madrid..Toledo, it's nearer. Salamanca is a bit far for a day trip and there's too much to see
