Toledo - budget accommodation
Thanks to all for their help so far. At the last minute (nothing booked yet)I have decided to spend my first night in Spain in Toledo instead of Madrid. This is not a city that features so prominently on the web so I would really appreciate some recommendations on a place to stay. I am looking for a single room. Budget 30-45 euros. Location and "feel" much more important than facilities. Own shower/loo would be nice - but don't much care as long as friendly and not too scruffy.

alice,
We just saw the Hostal Santo Tome and it looked very nice for the price.
See it at www.hostalsantotome.com
I'd reserve a double room at single occupancy to have a nice amount of space.
Graziella has posted on this little inn, and that's why we went to check on it. Great location in the heart of things.

alice,
The Santo Tome only has 10 rms. If they're filled, look at the Hostal Descalzos or the Hostal Santa Isabel.

We stayed at the Descalzos in March. Out room (0ne of the most expensive, but still cheap, had a lovely view). It was rather small, but we were fine. The place was clean and quiet. I think I read somewhere that their single rooms are miniscule. There was a nice outdoor garden seating area which was closed for the season when we were there.

Hi Alice,
We stayed at Descalzos also and liked it a lot. We had a triple room (3 single beds), color tv w/remote, bath w/tub and shower, and windows that opened onto the lovely gardens and fountain.
The owners spoke limited English but we all understood each other. They even found us a place to park our car.
The hotel is not too far from the Casa del Greco. After parking the car, we walked everyplace in Toledo.
Have a great trip,
Sandy

thanks all - I have contacted Santo Tome and descalzos. The santa isabella looks lovely but I'm going first for the lower end of the budget.
If all are full does anyone know anything about: hostal maravilla,
hostal centro, hostal nuevo labrador.
Thanks again.
