That's good news since I will be flying on Alitalia in September with Delta tickets (they code share).
Now if only Delta remains in the game, which I think they will. If they file Chapter 11 to reorganize their debt, they should still be flying.

The story doesn't say Alitalia's going to be baled out.
It says the Italian Government wants to bail it out.
But the Italian Government has little to do with this. It's no more allowed to make such a decision than the state of Pennsylvania is allowed to make treaties with a foreign power.
The attitude of Europe's serious commercial airlines - and their governments - will be totally predictable. The EU will be under huge pressure to block this insanity - and it has the final say.
Sorry to add to posters' worries. But if the airline really is bust, the sooner it stops ruining the market for real businesses, the better.
