milan to venice
Hi all,
Wizz air really sux. I am suppose to fly from prague to venice but is unable to make the booking. I have bought the flight tickets from Prague to Milan. From milan airport, to take a train to Venice!
As we are afraid that the the flight might be delayed, we will prefer not to book the train tickets. (However, the seats can't be full right? though it christmas eve! ) What is the shortest way to get to Venice from milan airport? As the day we land in Milan is on the 24 dec, we will like to reach Venice as quickly as possible to spend the Chistmas and Christmas Eve!

Go all the time trains leave hourly and are cheap never
booked in all the times I have been just take the bus
MXP Milano Centrale 6 euro then hop the next train
Regionals run 15 euro or so fast trains double that.

I see mini fares for that date (cheapest I see is 26€). Use the Le Frecce Trenitalia link that only searches the faster trains and shows the discounts for multiple trains on one screen. You must use the Italian names/spellings for the stations.

As Qwovadis points out, the slow trains (which are not that much slower) don't require advance reservations, and run fairly frequently. They also tend to cost less in 1st class than the fast trains do in 2nd class. If it were me I would print out schedules for that day and just relax and take whatever fits your schedule when you get there - - the regional trains are really OK.

Come to think of it, will it be a wise choice to travel to Venice on 24 dec or Just stay put in Milan. However, as I understand, the shops will mainly be closed during Christmas period? We plan to return to Milan on the 26 and stay till 28. Shopping malls will be open on the 26/27? Are there any boxing day sale in italy? Pls advise what wld be the best choice?

On Dec. 24th, you're going to fly Prague-Milan and train Milan-Venice for one day in Venice (Dec. 25th)? And then train Venice-Milan on Dec. 26th? Do you have your Venice hotel booked? Have you determined where you will eat in Venice on Christmas Day? And/or what you'll do on Christmas Day wherever you are?

The purpose of going to milan is to shop, thus we reckon that we will head to venice on 24 and depart venice on 26 afternoon/evening. Will venice be welcoming to vistor fm 24-26 dec?! Oh dear. what can we do from 24-26 when we are in venice. shld we book the hotels ASAP??
