To go to Santorini or not

My husband and I are planning a trip to Greece next May. We have limited time - surprise uh - and wish to spend a pleasant week in Greece without his relatives. I have heard Santorini is pretty but crowded and touristy. Is going worth our time. Any other suggestions on this..Thanks so much

Rebecca, Santorini is the best of the
Greek Isles and May is a great time to go. You can fly from Athens via Olympic
for about $120. Stay at the north end
at Oia---a very magical place. Search
the Forum for several lively discussions
about Santorini and where to stay.

I love Santorini. Even with the tourist and other stuff it is great. May is a good time. I was there in early June and the crowds were fine. I recently found a beautiful photo online of Santorini.. I bookmarked it. The URL is http://www.footloosetravel.com/photopage6.html. I think this will convince you to go! Enjoy Rebecca.

I stayed on Santorini for four nights in May and loved it. We stayed at the Sun Rocks Villas in Firostephani. Gorgeous. It's still a bit early and should not be over run with tourists except when the cruise ships dock. Even then, there are plenty of areas to visit other than the main town of Fira.

Hi, we returned a month or so from Greece where we stayed for five days on Santorini, and loved it. I think Oia is fast gaining on Fira in the crowded over-touristed department, though it's still delightful, but we particularly fell in love with the village of Imerviglio, and/or Firostephani, quite near Fira, but not honky-tonk; perhaps you could find a place there. we heard about a place called Astra Apartments in Imergivlio and met people who were staying there and loved it.
Good luck!

Although it's still under construction, my web site seems to keep disappearing. Soooo...while I continue to work on it, please take a look as I've completed the section on Santorini. I have my photos up, including some I took at Sun Rocks Villas in Firostephani:
http://sites.netscape.net/dmykonos/homepage
